Corduff Sports Centre is owned by Fingal County Council and managed under licence by the Board of Directors of Fingal Community and Recreation Services CLG. The community centre is in Corduff Dublin 15 and has operated as a community resource for sport and physical activity supporting a range of local community-based groups, actions and initiatives such as sport and recreational activities and health and wellbeing activities.

The centre opens 7 days a week subject to demand. We are seeking to recruit a Community Sports Centre Assistant Manager. The Assistant Manager will help the Centre Manager and will ensure the effective and efficient management and co-ordination of the human, financial, and material resources of the business.

This position would be ideal for a senior centre attendant looking to make the next step into management.


Essential qualificationsCandidates must have the following:

  • A 3rd level qualification in Sports Management, Business/Financial Administration, Training, Human Resources, facility management, Project Management or related disciplines. (Experience in lieu of qualification may be considered).
  • Staff management experience.
  • Good understanding of community sport, recreation and education in a community-based setting.
  • Business and/or Community/Sports development experience.
  • High level of organisation & administration skills essential.
  • ICT skills are also essential (e.g., MS Office / Google Workspace).


The ideal Candidate should have the following:

  • Previous management/supervisory experience in a successful sports/ community-based business.
  • Capacity to create new opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Capacity to initiate and develop a strong teamwork ethic and ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Experience of project management.
  • Good personal motivation and initiative.
  • Good familiarity with developing and the use of social media platforms.
  • Capacity to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds, agencies and sectors.

Community Sports Centre Assistant Manager

Corduff Sports Centre serves the needs of the community through the provision of a broad range of physical activity/sports-based programmes and other community initiatives.

The Sports Centre Assistant Manager will assist the manager in the day-to-day management, operation and development of the community sports facilities.  The Sports Centre provides a positive focal point for the relevant sport and physical activities in the local community.  The assistant manager will help the centre manager ensure the diverse needs of the community are met by developing a culture of inclusion through the provision of sports facilities and programmes which support the promotion of participation in sport, leisure, education, recreational and community activities, whilst maximising the use of the centre.

Reporting to: The Manager of Corduff Sports Centre.

Role:

The role of the Sports Centre Assistant Manager is to increase and promote opportunities for participation in sporting, physical activities, leisure and social activities at Corduff Sports Centre operated by FCRS. To assist the centre manager leading the staff, service and building and to actively promote the Centre and all services, locally and across Dublin 15.  The successful applicant for this position will ideally have some managerial experience. He/ She must have a strong understanding of community and/or facility and staff management. This position requires flexibility as the centre opens 7 days per week.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  1. Facility Management
  2. To help manage all services of the Sports Centre including the All-Weather pitch, Sports Hall and Activity room.
  3. To manage the building to ensure that it is managed and maintained and that the Centre is compliant with health and safety standards.
  4. Ensure the building is kept clean and to a very high standard.
  5. Ensure the booking system is operated and managed efficiently.
  6. Develop excellence in terms of customer service.
  7. Implement and maintain systems of work and reporting procedures.
  1. Business planning
  2. To assist the manager in leading, implementing and monitoring the business plan.
  3. To ensure that CSC’s policies & procedures are implemented.
  4. To co – operate with the Manager to ensure that all aspects legislation and best practice operations are complied with.
  5. Lead the staff and create a good community work ethos.
  1. Partnerships-
  2. Develop close working relationships with local community groups to ensure that there is a suitable safe and healthy environment for everyone using the centre.
  3. To foster good and effective working relationships with relevant agencies and services working in the local area.
  • To supervise all staff including those on employment schemes in the service and to support their continuing professional development and access to training.
  • To develop a team approach to the work of the facility and the programmes.
  1. Marketing and Communications
  2. To represent the Centre (in the absence of the manager) and be very clear as to how CSC communicates to the local community.
  3. To help promote the Centre as a location for new physical activity, sports, community, voluntary and social enterprise.
  4. To grow and develop the Centres activities further which will include identifying and following up on leads for further growth and usage of the Centre.

  2. To complete any other duties that may be assigned from time to time as determined by the Manager

Position:          Community Sports Centre Assistant Manager

Salary:             €30,000 to €32,000 approx. Depending on experience

General:          Salary can be paid weekly or monthly.

Probation:       The probationary period will be six months

Annual Leave: Twenty days per annum
